Morphology & Properties of Blends of Starch –caprolactone Blend

ثبت نشده
چکیده

A binary blend of polycaprolactone and starch in 70:30 weight ratio (known under the tradename “Envar”) was blended in various weight ratios with organosolv lignin (L) and organosolv lignin butyrate (LB) by solvent casting and melt blending. The thermal transitions observed by DSC revealed behavior resembling that of native polycaprolactone (PCL). Depression in melting temperatures obtained by DSC revealed interaction between SCL and L or LB. Also dynamic mechanical measurements indicated some measure of polymer-polymer interaction by revealing shifts in the glass and melting transitions of PCL. Crystallinity in PCL was found to increase probably due to nucleation initiated by the lignin particles. An increased degree of crystallinity was observed in the case of higher-Tg lignin compared to lower Tg lignin butyrate. Modulus and tensile properties increased up to about 20 % incorporation of lignin components. Chapter V: Morphology & properties of starch-caprolactone blend system 119

Enzymatic degradation of Poly (ε-Caprolactone) and Starch blends bontaining SiO2 nanoparticle by Amyloglucosidase and α-Amylase

The aims of the study were to investigate the effect of poly(ε -caprolactone) (PCL) and nano- SiO2 within the thermoplastic starch (TPS) blends on the rate and extent of starch enzymatic hydrolysis using enzymes α-amylase and amyloglucosidase. The results of this study have revealed that blends with nano-SiO2 content at 6 wt% exhibited a significantly reduced rate and exte...

Impact, thermal and biodegradation properties of high impact polystyrene/corn starch blends processed via melt extrusion

High impact polystyrene (HIPS)/corn starch blends were prepared in presence of glycerol as a plasticizer via melt extrusion process by a twin-screw extruder. The novelty of this work is first, because of the use of pre-gelatinized corn starch as modified one and second, the procedure of making blends by extruder which makes it ease of access and also industrially possible. The blends were then ...

Starch-based biodegradable blends: morphology and interface properties

In order to improve the properties of plasticized wheat starch (PWS) and to conserve its final biodegradability, PWS can be blended with biodegradable polyesters [polyesteramide, poly(ε-caprolactone), poly(lactic acid), poly(butylene succinate adipate) and poly(butylene adipate terephthalate)] which exhibit variable polar characteristics. This paper is focused on the analysis of the compatibili...
